The O.C. is about the lives of several families in New Port beach, an ultra wealthy community that’s got a lot of secrets and problems. Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher), a public defender, takes a troubled teen from a bad area home with him. Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) is a 16 year old kid who’s grown up in some pretty bad situations but who quickly bonds with Sandy’s son, Seth (Adam Brody), a geeky loner with a crush on a popular girl. Through Ryan’s “outsider” perspective, we see what life is really like for these extremely wealthy and ultimately, often miserable people. Soapy, melodramatic and glitzy, The O.C. built up a large fan base in its first year. Given its success, The O.C. will probably air indefinitely in syndication.
